June 1, 2011. A rare occurence in Massachusetts happened on this day as a massive tornado touched down around Springfield and surrounding towns. Where I live, across the state, we were thankfully spared and only experienced a severe thunderstorm. Before the storm front passed through, the sky appeared to be lit by orange flames. It was both a beautiful and ominous sight. Our biggest worry was whether or not Channel 7 would be broadcasting the Bruins game. We were lucky. (The Canucks were luckier.)
